August 2014

August was a hit!

We celebrated our anniversary a month early in LA. Scott and I went to the Getty to culture our minds with some famous art and sculptures. We stayed the night at the Marriott and went to see the best musician on the face of the planet...

SIR PAUL MCCARTNEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When Scott told me he got us tickets to see him in concert, I almost cried. I LOVE the Beatles, and Paul is my favorite!!!!

It was the best concert I've ever been too. I seriously couldn't wipe the smile off my face.

He performed an incredible 2 hour concert, and came back for an hour encore. We stayed until the stadium was empty. I had the BEST night! Thanks to my love for letting me check an item off my bucket list.

The rest of the month we took it easy with the boys. They played in the yard...

Played with cousins...

And played with each other.

It was basically a month of cuteness!

July 2014

4th of July was full of events!

First, we had a BBQ at Brent and Andrea's...

Yummy food, fun games, and great company. They know how to through a party!

That night, we took the kids to see the fireworks in downtown Riverside,

we were parked by a firetruck, so the boys got to sit in one!

Once the fireworks started, Porter decided that Uncle Kevin was the person he wanted to hang with.

Now to the really fun part of the month...

Max's 1st and Porter's 3rd Birthday party!!!!

Porter kept saying he wanted a "horsie" birthday party, so we made it a cowboy theme...

 and rented a pony...

and petting zoo!

They were a hit!

Max wasn't afraid of any animals...

and he wanted to ride the pony the whole time!

Eventually we had to say bye to the animals...

Max ended up crying when he had to get off the pony. He loved that little guy.

Next we played fun games...

then we went straight for the cake.
Max had never had sweets before this day...

and he wasn't really digging it.

Porter blew out his "3" candle...

and went straight for the goods.

Last, was the gifts. Max wouldn't put down the horse that Grandma and Grandpa got him.

This is what I caught Porter doing after the party. Cute little 3 year old!

I can't believe my babies are 1 and 3!

Porter is growing to be such an amazing kid. He is hilarious, loving, and opinionated. I think he's growing up to be a true leader, and I feel lucky to be his mom.

Porter update:

Knows how to dress himself

Favorite thing to wear is cowboy boots.

Tantrum city!!!!! Where did my sweet kid go? He's usually so easy going. I don't know what to do about his outburst and tantrums when he doesn't get his way. To be fair, his tantrums don't last long, but it's usually a mix of crying, whining, and throwing things.

On one occasion, I was walking with Jeanne and Holley and the boys were in the stroller. Porter got mad that I wouldn't let him get out because we were on a busy street, so he lost it! He was kicking and screaming, and somehow managed to get himself out of his buckles. His next reaction was hysterical...he started undressing. Really?! He was kicking off shoes, throwing his hat...I had to carry him the rest of the way home to calm him down. 15 minutes later, he was fine.

A couple days after that he had another episode, so I told him to go to his room until he could calm down. Well, after 5 minutes of losing it, he came down stairs completely naked! I don't know what it is about tantrums and undressing for this kid, but it's solo funny.

Max is such an angel and I feel so blessed to be his mother. He is a ball of love and smiles. It sounds cliche, but he really brightens my day. Heavenly Father really blessed us with a sweet spirit. I know he will grow up to be an amazing man. At such young age, he is already filled with joy, intelligence, and kindness.

Throughout the year I kept a list of things that I love about Max...

He giggles every time he touches pictures in a book (especially touch and feel ones)

He is the happiest baby alive! It's rare that he isn't smiling

He loves to cuddle

Anytime he hears cheering, he'll clap along with them

His dimples

He's a mama's boy

As a newborn he was fascinated with fans

He crawls with a gimp leg

He gives open mouth kisses

He's independent and likes to explore

He lights up when his brother enters the room

Screams at the top of his lungs all the time!

Super blonde hair

He thinks the chorister at church is waving to him when he leads music, so he always waves back

He loves reading books about animals

 Max update

Opens doors

says, "ba" for "bear" and "da" for dog

Tries to make animal noises

Favorite book, "Farm Animals"
